There are a lot of complex ways to remotely control your Mac computer from your iOS device, but if you’re looking for a simple plug-n-play way to access your computer files from your phone, you should give Find It a try.
The setup couldn’t be easier. After you download the $0.99 iOS app and the server app on your Mac, you’ll be provided with an IP address to enter on the app. You can also choose which folder to search on your computer.
The catch is, however, that your phone and Mac computer will have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network for the app to work.
What makes Find It particularly useful is the ability to preview files directly on your phone, and you can save them to your phone or share them through any of the apps you can installed on your phone. You can preview images, videos, and documents with Find It, with a list of supported files including JPG, PNG, DOC, PDF, Pages, and MP4.
You should also be able to remotely restart or shutdown your computer, and activate your screensaver.
