ISLAMABAD: Cellular phone services will remain partially suspended in various cities across the county on 9th and 10th of Muharram (Tuesday and Wednesday) for security measures.

According to Geo News sources, the interior ministry has directed the cellular network companies to partially suspend their services in some cities on Tuesday (today) and Wednesday, 9th and 10th of Muharram respectively, after administrations of all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA and Islamabad earlier requested the federal government for the move.

Cellular services are likely to remain partially suspended in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Faisalabad, Multan, Hyderabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and many other cities from early morning to late night.

Strict security measures have been taken throughout the country for Ashura to prevent any untoward incident.

The government has already banned pillion riding in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Rawalpindi.

The main 9th Muharram procession will be taken out from several cities including Quetta, Islamabad, Multan, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi.
