RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad challenged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to face him in an electoral duel, in a fiery speech on Saturday.
Addressing a rally in Rawalpindi alongside Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Tahir-ul-Qadri, Sheikh Rasheed termed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a ‘coward’ politician.
“My sun is about to rise and yours is about to set!” shouted the AML chief to a charged-up crowd, gathered to hear him and Tahir-ul-Qadri speak.
Sheikh Rasheed challenged Nawaz Sharif to face him in an election contest in Rawalpindi’s NA-55 and NA-56 constituencies. Rasheed said that he was not a coward or thief politician and said that in order to save the country, people would have to take matters into their own hands and come out on the streets.
Stating that corruption was rampant in Pakistan, Rasheed said that there were some clean leaders within the Pakistan Peoples Party, hence they should also be included for the greater good of the country.
