QUETTA: The deadly Congo virus has so far claimed twelve lives this year in the province.
The first case of Congo virus was reported in Balochistan during the month of February. 20 year-old Saddam Hussain from Quetta fell prey to the virus and died as a result of it. As many as 24 patients have also been brought in from Afghanistan to Quetta’s Fatima Jinnah Chest and General hospital.
Fatima Bibi, who died yesterday from the virus, was the twelfth victim who had fallen prey to Congo virus. It is pertinent to mention here that this year, twelve patients have been cured of the virus while three are still undergoing treatment.
Owing to the deteriorating situation of Congo virus in the province, Balochistan’s Department of Animal Affairs has issued an alert while the district administration has also undertaken emergency sprays.
The Deputy Commissioner of Quetta stated that the city had been divided into six zones where their teams would work. He said that the spray machine would be available in all the five livestock hospitals in Quetta.
